Is Radiofrequency Ablation Superior to Intra-Articular Injections for the Treatment of Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis?—A Systematic Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
The radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is considered a valid, minimally invasive treatment modality for the management of symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (OA). aim this study was to compare outcomes RFA with that commonly used intra-articular injections persistent pain due OA. Medline/Pubmed and Scopus databases were systematically searched up April 2023 identify studies comparing effect (IAIs) on Nine including 899 patients fulfilled eligibility criteria included in systematic review. procedure related improved relief compared IAIs at 3-, 6- 12-month follow-up (p < 0.001). Similarly, functional improvement greater than observed after hyaluronic acid (HA), steroid or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) (Visual Analogue Scale p 0.001, Numeric Rating = 0.019, Western Ontario McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index 0.012). overall procedural complication rate 10.2% higher 0.023) PRP 0.017) injections. However, no severe adverse events reported. For OA, seems be more effective alleviating improving joint function, despite relatively incidence non-serious events. limited number patients, result should interpreted caution not generalized entire OA population.

Predictors of response to intra-articular steroid injections in knee osteoarthritis—a systematic review
OBJECTIVE IA steroid injections (IASIs) have been shown to relieve pain in knee OA and are widely used in clinical practice. There is, however, evidence of some variation in response. Knowledge of predictors of response could aid in the selection of patients for this therapy. The aim of this systematic review was to determine factors associated with response to IASI in knee OA. METHODS Medlin...

If usual medical measures fail to control the pain of knee osteoarthritis and allow the patient to cope with its symptoms, intra-articular injections of a corticosteroid, a hyaluronan, or both can be tried.

Purpose The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical effects of HYADD® 4, an hydrogel based on a hyaluronic acid derivative, in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis, on symptoms, and joint function. Methods This retrospective study of patients with Kellgren-Lawrence grade II to IV knee osteoarthritis (American College of Rheumatology criteria) enrolled patients who had received ...
متن کاملBilateral Intra-Articular Radiofrequency Ablation for Cervicogenic Headache
Introduction. Cervicogenic headache is characterized by unilateral neck or face pain referred from various structures such as the cervical joints and intervertebral disks. A recent study of patients with cervical pain showed significant pain relief after cervical medial branch neurotomy but excluded patients with C1-2 joint pain. It remains unclear whether targeting this joint has potential for...

Knee osteoarthritis is a common but often difficult problem to manage in primary care. Traditional nonsurgical management, consisting of lifestyle modification, physical therapy and pharmacologic therapy (e.g., analgesics, anti-inflammatory medications), is often ineffective or leaves residual symptoms. Viscosupplementation is a newly available option for patients with symptomatic knee osteoart...
